Akihabara and the Land of Games

Since coming to Japan I've dreamed of wandering the streets and being inundated with sights and sounds.

We didn't eat here, but other people did

We've spent a long time surrounded by smells and tastes, but I've always said I'm more of a brain than a body and my mind rebels at stagnation.

We started out at a variety of anime stores, but everything was more expensive than we hoped. Henry put 400¥ into a prize machine and walked away with a cool figure at a big discount.

Eli found me a gluten free restaurant nearby, so we grabbed some rice bowls and drinks.

Eventually, we stopped by an arcade with claw machines including some of the figures we might have bought if we wanted to spend the money.

I started getting better at the claw games after the first 5$ and after another 5$ managed to win a Frieren figurine.

The machine with a Luffy figure took almost 30$ of trying, though, but the guy at the shop was nice and helped us with a little push.

Afterward we headed upstairs to the arcade section of the shop where they had rhythm games. These games are intense and super cheap. 100¥ got you like 3 tries and 10 minutes of play. It's a travesty how expensive American arcade games are in comparison.

We headed to conveyor belt sushi after that, and instead of a real conveyor, they had a giant screen that showed a virtual one that let you order directly to your table. It was cheap and tasty and we got to play games that were rigged while we ate, too!

Finally, we found a souvenir shop and stocked up on things for people we know, as we won't have to lug it all around Japan anymore.

Tomorrow is Disneyland and we'll be up early to catch the bus. Wish us luck that it's as nice weather-wise as it was today.
