Update
So the last 2 months have been pretty interesting, life-wise. I went from feeling rather hopeful to being pretty depressed to feeling rather hopeful again in completely different ways. Love has made a graceful exit from my life again, which, for the moment, suits me just fine. This inevitably means I'll meet someone I like soon, but I'm hoping to stave it off for a while until I get my feet settled.
Settling means moving, and that's the plan, currently. I'm pretty close to ending things with my businesses. I can't imagine they're going to improve--they haven't much in the 4 years we've been doing this, in fact, in a lot of ways, things have gotten worse. When I think to myself that Matt could have been doing an 80k/yr job this whole time, and I probably around 40k, and here we are struggling to register a car and afford a gym membership between the two of us, it boggles the mind. I know that everyone dreams about owning their own business, but there's a lot to be said for benefits, steady paychecks, plausible deniability, and paid vacation. Enjoy your job tomorrow, if you can, you may own your own business someday and realize that the IRS takes 15% just for letting you say you don't work for anyone.
I'm considering pursuing a career in whatever. I'd like to get a cool graphic design job for a really awesome company, but I realize that everyone's thinking that right now, so I'm going to be not picky and try and get employment before I get my dream job. The plan is to pay off debt, save a little, then decide whether to listen to my parents and save save save, or save a little, and go on a life-living roadtrip of some sort. I'm leaning road trip, but the idea of being financially sound is pretty appealing as well.
If nothing else, I have a plan for a small roadtrip. I will take this trip sometime soon, and I will feed off the experience while I whittle small pieces of my life away in toil for the dollar of someone else--someone better than I at creating and maintaining a business. Cheers to them, they pay me money.
So, if you know of a job, or someone hiring, and you think I can do the job, buzz me and I'll resumé you. If you can get me an interview, I'll owe you a lunch. I'm dreaming of SF right now, but LA, New York, Santa Barbara, San Diego, I'm open to whatever. My time frame is flexible.
I'm also looking forward to Vegas, seeing Sam in his natural habitat once again, and meeting his girl Amy. He seems really jazzed about her. I'll have stories and pictures, I'm sure. We're staying in the same room as last time, so I think it'll be an awesome party. Anyone wanna come and blow on my dice for me?
