At the beach house

Saturday was a day of hanging out, napping, and more napping. There were dozens of monkeys hopping through the trees at around 7 or 8 am. We didn’t get any pictures, but we sat on the porch and watched them try to get at the green bananas in the trees close to our house. Lots of sounds early in the morning! All kinds of birds, frogs and of course the monkeys. We are told there are some crocs in the lake next to us, but we haven’t seen any yet on our walks. We are right across the street from the beach. It’s really beautiful. We will get more pictures there and probably have a picnic there at some point.
Sat night, the people renting to us, who live in the next house over were having a birthday party, and invited us along. Lots of drinking, and really good food. Fresh fish, spicy pasta, fried yucca, and .. french fries but, they were delicious! Fun people. loud music, and good times. Just listening to their life stories was the best part for me. Many of them had been all over the world. You can ask Morgan how the 20 year old rum was.
When we got home our head lights lit up a frog that Morgan caught for a picture! You probably saw it already in another post, but here is a different shot.He is really good at catching things! He caught a tiny lizard for me too!
Don’t worry, we let them all go outside. but they were awfully cute.
Maybe I can convince Morgan to capture a monkey! Kidding, but, I am totally leaving papayas out to coax them closer.
I Just finished reading ‘the man in the iron mask’ , by Alexandre Dumas. Someone left it here.. I was pretty surprised by the actual story, as it barely pertains to the title character.. At all!
Morgan is working today, so I mainly lazed around reading. Eventually I will get to crocheting, but it’s nice to not have to do anything. I did take a little walk through the jungle today.

I’m trying so hard to get a video of these water lizards, they are so funny! When you scare them they run across the water on their hind legs like little jogging jesus’. The plants here are very vibrant, and I took a few shots for my mom.
We had some kind of grasshopper camped out on our kitchen window all day, and an iguana lives under our front walk.

Sunday we ate at a tiny place down the street, where Maria cooked us lunch. It had almost no walls and these little dogs kept coming in and sleeping on the floor. She would shoo them away, and as soon as she went to the kitchen, they’d come right back. There was one dog, who saw me look over, and just knew that I was a sucker. He slowly walked over, looked into my eyes, and put one paw on my knee, then, very slowly, the other paw, and then leaned his little head against me. I had no choice but to pet him. NO CHOICE! I could tell he wanted to climb into my lap, but there was no room, so I sent him off. No table scraps for strange doggies! Not even for very clever manipulative ones! Maria had a bunch of chickens, and cute little chicks, that apparently sleep in the kitchen, next to the state of the art fridge.
It’s raining now and we are sitting out on the porch listening while we type away. It sounds like the jungle cruise out here.
It’s really starting to pour! I will take a little video!

Okay, it’s really thundering and raining now! We had to move inside, but we will brave the storm in a bit to find some dinner. I have no more oreos to tide me over, so I hope it’s sooooon! Haha!
